Due to our large corporate contribution to Our Community Our Health, we have decided not to have our 2011 fall fundraiser on September 29th as previously planned.  We hope to see you next year.  Our 2010 fundraiser is briefly described at the bottom of this page.

Nova Agri Group donates $50,000 to Our Community Our Health

The Nova Agri Group of employees, together with its six families of owners, are celebrating their 40th anniversary of farming in the Annapolis Valley with a contribution of $50,000 to Our Community Our Health, an $8 million project to enhance facilities at Valley Regional Hospital and build a Hospice and Palliative Care Centre.

“We are very proud of the 50 plus different fruit and vegetable products we produce under the Country Magic label and decided to celebrate our anniversary by contributing to the health of the community in which our customers and employees live and work” says Earl Kidston, Nova Agri Group. “Making fruits and vegetables a major part of your diet, together with exercise, is an excellent formula for a healthy lifestyle, a longer lifespan and reduced health care costs for all Nova Scotians.”

“Every year we support our community in various ways” says Margie Brown, BtB.  “Between the Bushes Restaurant holds two corporate health related fundraisers for our Group.  In the spring, a brunch for MS & Alzheimer’s.  In the fall, a dinner for a local health or children’s organization I.e. Acadia’s S.M.I.L.E. program, Apple Tree Landing Family Education Centre, Kids Action program, and this past fall, the Brigadoon Children’s Camp Society.  Dykeview Farms provides a $1,000 scholarship for a local student attending NSAC in Truro; many of our owners attended NSAC.  Food Bank, Safe Grad, 4-H, Kings Citizen Patrol, Apple Blossom, Apple Dome, & NEKEC are just a few of  many other local charities we support in various ways.”

The Nova Agri Group of Companies is comprised of Dykeview Farms Ltd, Nova Agri Inc, Blueberry Acres, Between the Bushes Restaurant, Salad Acres and Vital Berry Farms. Their operations have expanded over the years to include packing, marketing, research, product/process development, and Agri-tourism (BtB and u-pick; linking the farm operations with the urban consumer).

2011 Annual Blossom of Hope Fundraiser 2011 marks the sixth year that we invite you to join us for our annual MS and Alzheimer brunch fundraiser being held at Between the Bushes Restaurant, Sheffield Mills.   This year the event takes place on Saturday, April 16th, just before our BTB season opening on May 3rd.  There will be a door prize and a 50/50 draw for each seating.  The menu includes Jimmy Lamb's ham, Meadowbrook Farm's bacon, local sausage, frittata, hashbrown casserole, french toast with Blueberry Acres' blueberry sauce, fruit and vegetable trays, curried vegetable salad, and BTB's blueberry apple crisp for dessert.  Beverages include orange juice, tea and Just Us! coffee.

Seating times are 9:30 am, 11:15 am and 1:00 pm.

Ticket prices: age 3 & under - free; age 4 - 12 years - $8.00; age 13 and up - $15.00

All proceeds are divided equally between the MS and Alzheimer Societies.

Reservations are recommended.  Call our business office at 582-1445 x 0, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm for tickets or more information.

Last year we raised $2,600!  Your continued support of this event will ensure another successful effort to raise much needed funds for these two worthy organizations.
