Serving local fare and fresh produce that highlight the seasons is what we do best at Between the Bushes Restaurant. Our one-of-a-kind “Field to Fork” program further celebrates local producers and provides our guests with an opportunity to taste and learn more about where their food comes from.
Located amidst 60-acres of highbush blueberries in Kings County’s rich farmland community, we have been serving the public for over eight years. Our customers told us they wanted tasty, fresh, affordable food made on the premises. Our menu offers a range of popular items like soups and sandwiches to unique entrees such as our Chicken a la King and Potato Crusted Atlantic Salmon, not to mention our signature world famous Blueberry Apple Crisp dessert.
Our country setting is further enhanced by commissioned works of art depicting local scenes celebrating the breathtaking beauty of our valley home. Guests are treated to the relaxing sounds of our indoor fishpond.
Take home a taste of the Annapolis Valley from our selection of Country Magic chutneys, vinaigrettes, spreads and 100% pure blueberry juice. Our retail area offers a unique selection of prints, books, jewelery, and pottery from local artisans among other items.
We have attracted a youthful local team to serve our customers' needs, led by our experienced Chef, Steve Riley. Our team is always ready to speak to you about celebrating large or small special events.
Being a community-style business, reflecting the qualities of our rural environment, Between the Bushes contributes to the community with fundraisers and volunteerism.
The restaurant hosts two major fundraisers annually. All proceeds from each event are divided between two charities. The spring fundraiser supports our local chapters of the Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society and Alzheimer’s Society. Some organizations that have benefited from the fall fundraiser are: the Children’s Wish Foundation, Chrysalis House, Acadia University's S.M.I.L.E. Program, Apple Tree Landing Children's Centre, The KIDS ACTION Program, and The New Minas Rotary Club's Food for Thought Fundraiser to raise money for local school breakfast programs, and Camp Brigadoon. In fact, Between the Bushes has received recognition for its fundraising work with the Alzheimer Society, MS Society, and the Brigadoon camp project.
We also participate in a company-wide ‘community clean-up’ under the Nova Scotia Adopt-A-Highway program. In addition to these, we participate in and support numerous community events.
We invite you to come and experience a little country magic at Between the Bushes Restaurant and leave with the same passion that we have for local produce.
Designed to bring fresh locally grown products to your table, our field to fork program features in-season fruits and vegetables. It’s an opportunity for us to support our local farming community and, at the same time, Chef Steve creates a special dish for our menu to highlight the produce. Come to Between the Bushes Restaurant for the full experience.
The Annapolis Valley offers many different products including local Asparagus, Fiddleheads, Raspberries, Blueberries, Apples etc… When these products are in season Between the Bushes Restaurant makes a conscious decision to partner with and support the local farming community by featuring their products on the menu.
