Due to our large contribution to Our Community Our Health, we have decided not to have our 2011 fall fundraiser on September 29th as previously planned. We hope to see you next year. Our 2010 poster is at Fall Fundraiser.
Nova Agri Group donates $50,000 to Our Community Our Health
The Nova Agri Group of employees, together with its six families of owners, are celebrating their 40th anniversary of farming in the Annapolis Valley with a contribution of $50,000 to Our Community Our Health, an $8 million project to enhance facilities at Valley Regional Hospital and build a Hospice and Palliative Care Centre.
“We are very proud of the 50 plus different fruit and vegetable products we produce under the Country Magic label and decided to celebrate our anniversary by contributing to the health of the community in which our customers and employees live and work” says Earl Kidston, Nova Agri Group. “Making fruits and vegetables a major part of your diet, together with exercise, is an excellent formula for a healthy lifestyle, a longer lifespan and reduced health care costs for all Nova Scotians.”
“Every year we support our community in various ways” says Margie Brown, BtB. “Between the Bushes Restaurant holds two corporate health related fundraisers for our Group. In the spring, a brunch for MS & Alzheimer’s. In the fall, a dinner for a local health or children’s organization I.e. Acadia’s S.M.I.L.E. program, Apple Tree Landing Family Education Centre, Kids Action program, and this past fall, the Brigadoon Children’s Camp Society. Dykeview Farms provides a $1,000 scholarship for a local student attending NSAC in Truro; many of our owners attended NSAC. Food Bank, Safe Grad, 4-H, Kings Citizen Patrol, Apple Blossom, Apple Dome, & NEKEC are just a few of many other local charities we support in various ways.”
The Nova Agri Group of Companies is comprised of Dykeview Farms Ltd, Nova Agri Inc, Blueberry Acres, Between the Bushes Restaurant, Salad Acres and Vital Berry Farms. Their operations have expanded over the years to include packing, marketing, research, product/process development, and Agri-tourism (BtB and u-pick; linking the farm operations with the urban consumer).
