The fields are open for picking during the following hours, weather and crop permitting. Please call ahead to avoid disappointment. 902.582.1482 When you arrive at Between the Bushes Restaurant/Blueberry Acres, join us at our u-pick Front Porch service counter. Our friendly Cashier will direct you to the gazebo waiting area, where our bus will arrive to transport you to the field. The bus makes the circuit approximately every fifteen to thirty minutes, depending on which location we are picking in. |  |  |
We make every effort to place customers with strollers, wheelchairs, walkers, etc in our field by the office; if berries are not available close at hand, please have your accessory collapsed and ready to put on the bus. Our driver will ask you to remain off the bus until everyone else has gotten on, then you will be seated last with your accessory in the front of the bus.
Taking the bus is fun! When you arrive at the field, you will be greeted by one of our Field Supervisors who will be happy to get you situated and ready for a wonderful picking experience.
We supply u-pick boxes, as seen in our photos. These boxes are provided free of charge when picking. We encourage reuse and recycling. Bring your boxes back to reuse on another visit and we will give you a $1.00 discount on a minimum purchase of 6 lbs of blueberries per box. We also supply containers for you to pick into - 2 litre containers with laces attached to allow the container to go around the neck - this leaves both your hands free to be able to pick the berries; getting into the middle of the bushes and pulling down the top branches - two places that customers quite often miss..
To be able to find all those berries just waiting to be picked, you need both hands to be able to move the branches aside or up; look in towards the centre of and underneath the branches of a highbush blueberry bush - you will be amazed!
There is no smoking permitted on the buses, in the fields, or in any of our buildings, due to our "On Farm Food Safety Program".
Bring the entire family.....but not the family pet! Due to our Safety Program, pets are not allowed in the fields or in the buildings. As we don't have shaded areas for your vehicle, we recommend you do not leave your pet unattended in your vehicle. Please leave them at home, where they have all their creature comforts.
| | You can pick at your own pace..... for hours if you like, but that's a lot of berries! It normally takes approximately half an hour to pick 10 lbs (one u-pick box) of big, juicy blueberries. When you are ready to leave the field, our bus driver will take you back to the front porch where our cashier will weigh your berries. Our scales are calibrated to remove the weight of our Blueberry Acres u-pick box; our blueberries are sold by the pound. |
